What Is It?

An Electrocardiograph (ECG) is a 10 second recording of the hearts electrical signal.

How Is It Done?

6 electrodes are attached to the chest and 4 to the limbs. Wires from these go to a recording device to record the trace.

Why Is It Done?

An ECG gives an indication of previous damage to the heart as well as acute problems. It also shows the heart rhythm and rate.
